Chapter 40 — An Ordinary Day
Morning sunlight poured gently through the windows of Moo66.
Just as always, Shamnomics, the Siamese cat, and Shibanomics, the little black Shiba Inu, patiently waited for Usinomics to wake up.
The moment he stepped out of bed, both of them hurried over with tiny gifts.
A handful of acorns.
A few carefully collected twigs.
Nothing expensive.
Nothing rare.
Yet they were priceless.
Usinomics smiled warmly and gently stroked both of their heads.
Their food bowls were already completely full.
It was another peaceful morning.
Soon, the familiar notification appeared.
Daily Quests Available.
Usinomics stretched his shoulders.
Another day.
Another opportunity to earn acorns.
Every reward brought him one step closer to expanding the land around Moo66.
It wasn’t glamorous work.
But every acorn mattered.
Most of the day’s assignments involved delivering packages throughout town.
Sometimes food.
Sometimes furniture.
Sometimes mysterious supplies.
It often felt less like an adventurer’s journey and more like working for a delivery company.
Almost like Uber Eats.
Or the local postal service.
Still…
The rewards were surprisingly generous.
So despite occasionally sighing along the way, Usinomics continued accepting every request.
His savings kept growing.
During a short break, he contacted Romanofune.
Not because he needed advice.
He simply wanted someone to listen.
Usinomics admitted.
Romanofune replied without hesitation.
That was all.
It sounded less like encouragement and more like an order from a superior officer.
Still…
It was better than hearing Romanofune’s other favorite response.
Whenever Romanofune answered that way…
It usually meant he had completely given up on the conversation.
Usinomics laughed awkwardly.
There was a brief silence.
Then Romanofune answered.
Usinomics blinked.
For a moment…
He didn’t know what to say.
Finally, he smiled.
That single conversation gave him enough motivation to continue.
He walked beneath the white garden arches…
Delivered another package…
Collected another reward…
And repeated the routine again.
As another delivery was completed, a thought crossed his mind.
Back at Moo66, the kitchen became busy once again.
Usinomics prepared meals for future orders and carefully stocked the shelves.
Later, while visiting one of the local merchants, he noticed someone unfamiliar.
A young woman.
She spoke a language he had never heard before.
Neither of them could understand the other’s words.
Instead…
They communicated through gestures.
Smiles.
And collectible stamps.
They exchanged food as gifts.
She happily asked for another stamp, and Usinomics gladly stamped her collection.
She looked absolutely delighted.
Embarrassed but happy, Usinomics simply smiled and said,
For some reason…
He suddenly felt like a rock musician greeting fans after a concert.
Then it happened.
The woman handed him another gift.
Panicking, Usinomics hurriedly searched his inventory for something to give in return.
His hand grabbed the first item it found.
Unfortunately…
It wasn’t flowers.
It wasn’t fruit.
It wasn’t dessert.
It was…
Plant Fertilizer.
Rich.
Organic.
With an unmistakable aroma.
The woman accepted it anyway before cheerfully waving goodbye and running off.
Standing alone, Usinomics instinctively held the fertilizer like a bouquet of roses, smiling politely as if nothing unusual had happened.
Only after she disappeared did reality sink in.
He buried his face in his hands.
Trying to recover from the embarrassment, Usinomics returned home and focused on cooking.
Today’s results were mixed.
One beautiful three-star dish.
Three ordinary one-star meals.
Not perfect.
But good enough for the staff table.
Tomorrow would be another chance to improve.
Later that afternoon, Usinomics and Shibanomics went for a peaceful walk around the neighborhood.
Before long, they discovered yet another enormous mansion rising above the trees.
It looked less like a house…
And more like a royal palace.
Usinomics quietly took a photograph.
Even purchasing the largest available land in Moo66 wouldn’t be enough.
Creating something similar would require an incredible amount of resources.
For a brief moment…
He remembered his own dream of building the perfect Game Café.
The memory made him smile.
And sigh.
To clear his mind, he and Shibanomics climbed into the little white car and drove toward the coast.
The sea breeze welcomed them.
The beach stretched endlessly beneath a brilliant blue sky.
Usinomics laughed as he ran across the sand with his loyal companion.
It felt wonderfully carefree.
Nearby, an alpaca family peacefully enjoyed the afternoon.
Shibanomics watched them with curious eyes.
Surprisingly…
The alpacas seemed completely comfortable around the little Shiba Inu.
Perhaps animals understood each other without words.
Or perhaps kindness needed no language at all.
As the sun slowly drifted toward the horizon, Usinomics relaxed in a beach chair, quietly watching the endless ocean.
A party invitation suddenly appeared.
Unfortunately…
It was too far away.
There was no chance of arriving on time.
With a small sigh, he politely declined.
Moments later…
Shibanomics disappeared.
Usinomics searched the beach.
Called her name.
Looked everywhere.
Nothing.
Then a notification appeared.
Shibanomics returned home on her own.
Without wasting another second, Usinomics hurried back to Moo66.
Sure enough…
She was waiting outside the front entrance.
Safe.
Relieved, Usinomics knelt beside her.
But something was different.
She barked repeatedly.
She seemed upset.
No matter how gently he spoke, she refused to calm down.
Usinomics smiled wearily.
With that comforting thought, the long ordinary day finally came to an end.
Tomorrow would bring another sunrise.
Another quest.
Another unexpected adventure.
To Be Continued…
